Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie and similar tracking technology actually in use on clipwick.com — not a generic template. If we add or remove a tool that sets cookies, we'll update this page to match. For how we handle the personal information behind these (your email if you subscribe, messages you send us), see our Privacy Policy.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, usually to remember something between visits — that you're logged in, what language you picked, or which ads you've already seen. Some of the tools below use cookies; others (like our analytics) are built specifically not to.
1. Cloudflare Web Analytics — performance, no cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see overall traffic to the site: page views, rough visit counts, approximate country of visitors. It's built to run without cookies or any persistent identifier, and it doesn't fingerprint your device or track you across other websites — it can't tell one of your visits from another's. It sets no cookies of any kind. Because there's nothing to opt out of, there's no toggle for it below.
2. Google AdSense — advertising and personalization
This site shows ads served through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to limit how often you see the same ad, measure whether ads are working, and — if you haven't opted out — personalize which ads you see based on your browsing. The specific cookie names and lifespans are set by Google and can change without our involvement; the ones most commonly associated with Google's ad services are:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDE | doubleclick.net (Google) | Ad personalization and frequency capping across sites | Up to 13 months |
| __gads / __gpi | google.com / doubleclick.net | Ad measurement and delivery on this site | Up to 13 months |
| test_cookie | doubleclick.net | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies at all | ~15 minutes |
This table reflects Google's publicly documented ad cookies, not a live scan of your browser — for the authoritative, current list and what each one does, see policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you'll see a consent prompt on your first visit asking whether to allow personalized ads. Choosing "no" doesn't remove ads — it just makes them less targeted.
3. Language switcher — Google Website Translator
The 🌐 language button in the header runs Google's website-translator widget, which machine-translates the page in your browser. When you pick a language, it sets a googtrans cookie on clipwick.com so your choice sticks as you move between pages, and loading the widget itself may pull in cookies Google sets on its own domains under the same ad/measurement policy linked above. If you never open the language menu, this cookie is never set.
4. Affiliate links
Some articles link out to tools we review through affiliate programs — full disclosure is on our Disclaimer page. ClipWick doesn't embed any affiliate tracking script or set an affiliate cookie on clipwick.com itself. When you click through and land on a partner's site (opus.pro, vizard.ai, and so on), that site sets its own tracking cookie under its own cookie and privacy policy, not ours — we don't control it and can't list its specifics here. Check the destination site's own cookie policy if you want details on how it attributes a referral.
Managing or disabling cookies
Ad personalization: manage or opt out of personalized Google ads directly at adssettings.google.com, or use the consent prompt on your first visit if you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
Your browser: every major browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) lets you view, block, or delete cookies on a per-site or global basis from its settings — search your browser's help docs for "cookies" if you're not sure where that is. Blocking third-party cookies specifically will stop most ad personalization without breaking the site.
What happens if you block them: the site itself keeps working either way. You'll still see ads, just less targeted ones. The language switcher will still translate the page, but it'll forget your chosen language between visits since it can't set its cookie. Cloudflare Web Analytics is unaffected either way, since it was never using a cookie to begin with.
Separately, your dark/light theme preference on this site is stored in your browser's localStorage, not a cookie — clearing cookies alone won't reset it; clearing site data will.
Changes to this policy
If we add a tool that sets new cookies — a different ad network, a new widget — we'll update this page before or as we turn it on, not after.
